Nobody Said It Would be Easy

Inspired by Md check out her work on this site

for the one
who has
ears
to hear
nature calls
like a flower
growing
through the cracks
of a sidewalk
it calls
through the noise
of the concrete
jungle
you call life
its beauty
encapsulates
your thoughts
until nothing
else matters
it calls
in the manufactured
city
of your experiences
it’s a shame
that your filtered
perceptions
are built up
merely as a
testament
of your own
bright
logic
it’s a wonder
how you ever
find a way
to walk around
this final wall
after years spent
on corners
worshipping idles
in stagnant sands
that are anything but quick
why are you
always striving
to reach new heights
of sustainability
and to what end
for in the end
there is no
justification
for the means
only seem
to serve
as a fabrication
of your own
self serving
ideas
your own
selfish
desires
continually
building
and at their highest
heights
revealing
only a fear
of starting
over again
your dreams
turned
into a prison
from which
your
possessions
have to be
liberated
in order for you
to taste
true freedom
again
what if you
simply
return
to nature
what belongs
to nature
and instead of
building
monuments
of yourself
you simply chose
to begin
each new cycle
naked
and unafraid
now
that you have reached
the end
dear reader
i ask that you not fill
the hole
in your chest
with the concrete
of what you’ve known
but instead
chose
to fill it
with your own
dark soil
of wonder
and watch
nature bloom
unrestrained
like a flower
growing
through the cracks
