America My Home
I look around with joy,
in this place, I’ve always known.
and I say to myself that
I’m glad this is my home.
I look around with joy,
in this place, where I have grown,
and I say to myself that
I’m glad this is my home.
With God on our side,
our country will prevail.
so lets pray for His help
for He will never fail
So we can look around with joy,
in this country we have known
and say to ourselves,
I’m glad America is my home.

8athis felt more real and had more heart in it..than some other american poems out there which can sometimes feel cookie cutter(I'm not trying to down anyone else)....but i was actually pursing my lips smiling and nodding my head the whole time...it made me proud inside.i think especially at a time when our country could use a little more heart ...im raw to begin with on the subject ..when its difficult to know who's right and who's wrong and how do you tell someone what you think without being misunderstood ..because can these sides really be called right or wrong...because there are so many different feelings and sides to a story ..a story that always breaks your heart to hear because you know someone is not being understood correctly and emotions are welling up...this poem brought all these thoughts up..making me realize the one constant ..is to live here and be proud to do so and thankful for the place we have..this poem has simplicity but not at all simple....real..from a real american...even my comment got a little emotional sorry so long .. :) "and I say to myself that I’m glad this is my home. I look around with joy, in this place, where I have grown" i think thats the verse that in particular moved me..,
