Johnston, Bill D.

Tough Guy

He pretends to be a hard boiled egg.
He actually has a soft yolk.
Sometimes, when he acts tough, he
is secretly fluid.

If you get to know him, he removes
his shell. And he will let you take
an intimate bite.
He will accept your salt and pepper.

He says he does not like others.
But he is tolerant of those bacon
and ham types.
He says potatoes are okay.

He claims that he is risk averse.
But he often jumps into hot grease
to rescue tater tots.
He never asks for thanks.

He declares no giving back to the
community for him;and then,
he volunteers to help
those who are charred toast.

He states his intolerance
for poached eggs, but he
recommends the 12 steps
of Poached Anonymous.

He loves to get fried safely
while enjoying the baking bowl
game. He spends that night
in front of television.

His wife and kids melt his
yolk. And he becomes domestic,
while he allows them small
and annoying infractions.

His life is culinary perfection.
He is an extraordinary main dish.
It certainly can be proclaimed
that he is a fine egg.
