Why I Love You

"We are made of particles that existed since the moment the universe began. I like to think those atoms travelled 14 billion years through time and space to create us so that we could be together."
- The Big Bang Theory

You ask me why I love you; here’s my start
A million reasons echo in my mind
But first, you make me happy in my heart
A joy I sought but never thought to find

I love our talks be it by phone or near
The music of your voice a soothing tune
Each word you speak is all I want to hear
Your laughter lifts my soul like flowers in June

I love the way you cook a meal with care
Each dish prepared with love a grand display
And watching you enjoy it unaware
Your smile alone makes hunger fade away

I love to share a meal at home or out
Beside you, every bite becomes divine
With you I’ve learned what sharing’s all about
The pleasure grows with each and every sign

I love to walk with you along the shore
Or anywhere; it’s you who fills my pride
Your hand in mine makes me love you much more
For by your side I’m happiest inside

I love to hold you close when you’re in need
To comfort you when tears fall down your face
Massaging feet and legs becomes my creed
I’ll soothe your sorrow leaving no small trace

I love when we kneel down in church to pray
Your voice in song lifts spirits high above
Beside you every word I say conveys
The faith that fills us both with endless love

I love to travel, road trips, skies or sea
Exploring wonders new sights to behold
Together we’re a pair of minds set free
Our hearts entwined; adventurers turned bold

I love your kisses tender sweet and warm
Your touch alone makes every moment shine
Embracing you protects me from the storm
And in your arms, I’m home my heart’s design

I love your smile; the way you light the room
Your joy contagious makes each day feel new
Though countless reasons could still find their bloom
The truth remains: I’ll always love just you!

This poem was written in June 2014, over ten years ago. Resurrected it from purgatory last week. With a few changes I have decided to post it at this time. A little sappy I must say but otherwise ok.
