THE KING

Behind unseen in shadow wise,
Stands tall the noble King.
While on throne in full light,
Cavorts in regal mockery the Fool.
Hard it is to Court to peer,
Into backdrop’s gloom for Truth,
To see reality and wisdom there,
It’s simple Majesty.
Easier to heed loud bells of Fool,
Accept the nearer view,
Take note this day of Jester’s doom,
Who then so presumed the Throne.
Now noise and light of ease,
Near riot has become.
Harder yet the search beyond,
Small value’s harshest lights,
Of convenient compromise there again,
Behind deception’s greatest shams,
Is by pure Heart soon recognized.
