SEPTEMBER GREEN

Consider a moment the clear blue sky.
Have you ever stared at a sight like this
And boldly wondered “Why?”

What if just a little darker
With a hint of red inside.
Or perhaps a shade of aquamarine
But with a subtle touch more green.

How would the clouds regard such a day?
What would they think of this change of scene?
Must they, in turn, turn green?

And how could the world they see every day
Differ from days gone by?
Would people change in mood or temper
If awoken to a green skied September?

Would nation call nation to confirm this new truth?
Someone’s decided that they should redecorate
To try and change the mood.

Can it really be as simple as that?
They all can hope and wish it were so.
Maybe one day, they, all of them will know.
