HER UNCLE

Even though you’re far away,
In her heart you’ll always stay.
Her love for you is always true,
There is no other uncle like you.
When she was just a little girl,
You made her life a happy whirl.
You took her for her first car ride,
And bought her candy with a smile.
She loved you then when she was four,
And you a soldier going to war.
How time has passed ever so fast,
They now look like their parents in the looking glass.
But to her you will always be
Her handsome uncle young and free.
Though age and illness has caught up with them both,
You’ll always be the uncle she loves most.
