The Growing Darkness

... and the struggle to stay afloat

Floating around the giant blackness of the great abyss trying not to get lost in the void.

Teetering on the precipice fighting the overwhelming urge to swim away from the growing pitch.

Heavy weighs the hesitation that flickers to life, stoking a smoldering fire to give light to embracing the darkness.

No sun. No moon. No stars to guide the path. Hollow, vacant, the growing absence of all things becoming nothing.

Only the cold lonely vacuum of emptiness to keep company the ever racing thoughts swirling through my synapses.

A lone traveler listlessly adrift a great chasm of the unseen, unheard, unknown abandon.

I am untethered and afloat, unclaimed and insignificant, alive and existing .... barely.

The increasing unknown seems to claim my body, heart, and soul– perhaps I should stop fleeing the inevitable and dive headfirst in to the deep dark.

Afterall, the absence of light may be the only escape from the encroaching darkness.

The only salvation is to embrace the ether. To let go and be no more.
