Thread

Weaving through life and life of dreams,
Hanging onto fragile threads,
I continue on my journey of wonder,
Holding onto the real and the imaginary,
The mobile and the immobile,
My transitory self, my feet in chains,
Falling through the cracks of armor,
Settling into times of shifting sands,
Tasting love and bitter fruits,
Following rivers along their banks,
Running with the determined waters,
Casting my heart into the sea,
Giving love and taking love,
Wrapping it around my stolid heart,
Living a lifetime in a day,
Swimming against the current,
Stepping out of cadence with the earth,
Disrupting the flow of life,
Erasing the tracks that it made in the sand,
Crossing over to a new earth,
Molded from the clay from my own yard,
Becoming the new Almighty One,
Clothed in a shiny plastic vestment,
Covering up my true identity
While hanging onto the fragile thread,
As I cling to the real that I made it to be,
The real that comes to me in my dreams
With its wings that take me to the moon
And let me play with the stars.
