The Garden of Earthly Delights, inner right wing, detail, by Jheronimus Bosch
Robert L. Martin

Tempest Glitter

Lol she has arrived
in all her finery and jewels,
dressed in her black and gray capes,
her tiara adorned in black gold with
serpents atop, slithering, writhing,
twisting against the beauty of the
piling up of the skies in sensual lines,
the rapid throbbing of the nervous heart,
her sinister twisting, suggestive posing,
elegant skyscape, artistry in the now,
effervescent bubbling, nervous pacing,
hell beneath the heavens,
her booming voices above the calm,
calling me to her
wedding with the beast,
inviting me to her unholy temple,
sending the lightning to
ride back up with, serenading me with
the opus she composed,
her “Lullaby of Thunder,”
lifting me up into her demonic clouds,
her palpitating beauty, her moist lips,
her spirited curvaceous body,
her hair of writhing serpents,
up into the fire water,
the hot and cold clashing,
the hell to the heavens,
the clammy pathway
with swirling escalators,
nervous twitching of her hands,
the beauty lines in their palms,
up into her Sodom heavens
her throbbing heart of iron,
her hell adorned with roses,
her lair lined with black velvet,
her demonic kingdom,
her beauty beyond beauty,
her tempestuous glittering,
lost in her swirling madness,
her all in all,
