Losing of the Self

Swiftly how love runs among many courses,
Like a ride upon the backs of wild horses,

Affinity’s protocol handed down to all lovers,
Each moment in line for all the others,

A sighting, a rush, a bewilderment, a joy,
A unifying force for Mother Nature to employ,

A reaction to how she works her magic,
And how it travels throughout so quick,

A submission to that force as love emerges,
The need to satisfy those unrelenting urges,

A burning desire to feel the heat of love,
To jump into the sacred fire from above,

A losing of the self and casting aside the fear,
Of the fire building and the pain so near,

A passion unattended from love’s command,
A breath-taking trip to an exotic wonderland,

And the desire to live in that eternal place,
And to wake up with the dawn of beauty’s face,

An ode to affinity and how it works,
And thank God for all it does.
