Electric Slave

Electric slave,
the faithful assistant,
the switch on the wall,
the turning on the switch
from the hand of the taskmaster,

the wizard in the dark,
the lightener of the task ahead,
the soother of the painful hours,
the masseuse with the silken hands,
the troubadour in the nervous heart,
the converter of the laboring to
instant gratification,
the swiftest road to the end,

the reliance upon its functions,
the switch for the lazy fingers,
the thief who stole the sweet music
out of the heart of the contented toiler,
the one who loves his labor
and sings upon the long and winding
road to his accomplishment,
utilizing the value of patience,

the paradox of the electric switch,
the good for the
shortest road to success
and the bad for the
under evaluation of the laboring.
