Nine lives in gothic art stained glasses of cats lair lie
Scroll works of remembrances stenciled in sarcophagi
Change and resurrection the nine lives of spiritually healing cat
Magical solitary soul God’s beautiful precious gift mankind got
Sad are the gargoyles in Our Lady gothic ribbed vaulted cathedral
Nine centuries of rebirth core brought down Paris church principal
The spirit of humanity magical as that of the mystic feline
Will resurrect the ashes the dusts from yonder east end
Sculpt to apse to altar rib vaults to spire as sure as the sun rises again
God’s gift of life rekindles embers this time beyond nine lives will attain
The ecclesiastical spirit of the muted frozen guardians of time
Of history and religions and God’s cathedrals again is sublime

6yThat sure was a sad occasion, the burning of Notre Dame Cathedral. great poem. Life will go on for the two cats despite the setbacks.

6ySad day. Sad day, day after Palm Sunday. But the cross remained standing and the Thorn Crown was untouched after all the inferno that swallowed much of the Cathedral. A heartbreaking loss to all Christians, to religion, history, art, and architecture. And France! Seeing the Spire fall says it all. If only Quasimodo and the gargoyles could talk! Glad you like. 6yLike a phoenix Notre Dame will rise from the ashes, high, ethereal and mighty proclaiming God's glory and magnificence. Thankfully the most important relics were saved.. So was the Rose! Like!

6y@Nelson: I saw Notre Dame for the first time in 1987. Then again last year. Saw it every day for eight days because our hotel was only a few blocks away. Hope to see the rebuilt cathedral in my lifetime.

6y@Vic: Me too. But maybe not during the remainder of my lifetime as optimistic as I am by nature. At least the roof part we can see plus maybe the spire, now a proposed design by Foster and Foster Architects had been submitted and published. The general consensus of the worlld’s experts in historical structures rehab and reconstruction is not to hurry up this rebuilding effort. A lot of preliminary assessment and studies as to the structural integrity of the cathedral, it’s framework and foundations and anything related to the strength of the structure including the ornaments external and internal will be scrutinized. And then take necessary measures. All this before prepping up a Gargoyle so to speak. And a long time it can be done. Just remember it took centuries to see what you had seen the last time you were in Paris. President Macron I guess is aiming for a rebuilt Notre Dame to showcase come the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. Politics again in the play!

It was a sad day for Architecture the day this beautiful work of art and engineering caught fire. But as always there is a resurrection and in no time at all the rebuilding began. I salute all the people of France and the world over whose hearts saw to it that that Phoenix like resurrection of an icon of faith from the ashes rekindles to a torch like light that once lit the dark times of history. Once more a glorious ecclesiastical Cathedral. Thanks again for a “...must favorite...” from you, my new found friend.
