Dysfunction

You’re in and out of my life, like a memory, you remain
But I keep opening the door, so I guess I’m the one to blame.
You’re like a mountain range: you’re a daunting barricade.
Your life has become strange and haunting. That’s the price I paid
To love and be loved in return. That’s all that I’ve desired.
But you took my love and poisoned it until that love expired.
I know now you’ve nothing for me, no, you have no concept of it.
The heaven that you want for me, I have to rise above it.
Now it’s time to test my mettle, for your needs battle my own.
But I don’t wanna fucking settle. I don’t wanna die alone.
