Contemplations III

To the gazers

Stars were once a skyward chart
That all could look above and see.
The lights would guide lost and weary
Wanderers, searching for a start.

A beginning is hard to find
When you don’t know where you have been,
And can’t recall what’s heard or seen
Amid recesses in your mind.

Now I look at that same sky
And as I spend time pondering,
And wandering, and wondering,
The stars look so much closer to the eye.
