Liberty

The world around me
isn’t what it seems—
politics clash,
democracy dreams.
Deafening opinions
explode like bombs,
but don’t worry, America—
relax. Stay calm.

The world around me
is cracking apart—
protests, signs,
the burning of art.
It’s a scary place
to raise a kid,
with time flying faster
than it ever did.

Even if you’re right,
you’ll still be wrong—
left or right,
the divide’s too strong.
No decorum,
no moral thread—
just screens that scream
inside your head.

What you see
is not what you get—
a country anxious,
crippled by debt.
They’ve got a pill
to fix your pain—
make you small,
make you sane.

The world around me
doesn’t feel safe
when I send my kids to school
and pray they’re safe.
The food’s full of plastic,
the oceans rise—
but hey, at least
your package arrived.

It’s warm in February—
wasn’t there ice?
But sure, the weather
still feels nice.

The world around me
still holds hope—
but we all must choose
to sink or float.
We the people
are not dolls—
united we stand,
divided we fall.
