MOONLIT NIGHT

This moonlit night

unleashes excitement galore

being cautiously guarded

by stray patches of floating clouds

who appear as it were

to lift the sky

like lord Krishna

lifting the giri gobardhan

on his finger tip

the clouds hovering and scouting

across the sky line

like trusted sentinels

vested with the job of safety

across the boundary of moon light

the trees and shrubbery

touch the horizon

standing silently

like a mischievous school kid

getting punishment

sylvan moon with her supple shine

sneaks through leaves

fountain water river waves

and intriguing smile of Mona Lisa

vast stretches of corn fields

glitter at a distance

covered with a net of

thin layer of fog

the prying eyes of moon light

falls indiscriminately

on the sweet face of

a romantic beloved

dabbling in domain of love

or a jilted lover

ponderous and frustrated

groping in the blind alley

to wriggle out like a

misled soldier in a tunnel

the guile, scorn and contempt

can not be concealed

moon light of truth

shall reveal them

like Columbus or Newton.
