I Will Be Me

I slammed the back door
Rushed down the creaky rough wooden steps and ran onto the dirt path
The bitter frosty air scrapped against my pale face
the vibrant red and orange leaves rustled in the wind
as I thought to myself why can’t I just be who I am!
Why is that so hard?
Why does this world make it so difficult?!
They try to mold you into what they want you to be
I’m so very different then them oh so very different indeed!
I’m a believer
A dreamer
A doer
So many thoughts racing around in my mind.
I urgently stop in my tracks
And take a moment to breathe in the crisp air as it fills up my lungs and puff it out to ease my churning stomach
I listen to the dogs barking
Tractor motors clumping and airplanes dashing across the bursting radiant sunset on the horizon
Today is the day I don’t listen to what they say
Today no one will tell me who I am or ought to be
Even if it’s your own mother saying these hurtful things
Today and for every todays that come I will be me!
