Glossophobia

Speaking was not her field of enjoyment
the crowd would yell louder and louder
as the time would spin round and around
her guts would form flutter flies

the microphone was taunting her
hunting her to come closer
Speak! Speak!
a lady yelled from the crowd
they started to cheer and beg
saying the same word over and over
same as the lady did
Speak! Speak! Speak!
making her fear grow larger

slowly she walks to the microphone
choosing that if she walked away
embarrassment would have followed her
forever
guilt was another

She spoke and the crowd went suddenly silent
she said her few words
no one peeped a sound
she blushed her eyes began to tear up
then they jumped
clapped
screaming for an encore!
