The Pearl

UNKNIT that brow; the day too soon
   Departs when starry nights are nearer;
They’re clouded now, nor will the Moon
   Once come and try to make them clearer.

Be not like her, a peevish girl;—
   I own I err’d; but when I dearer
Than worlds appraised thy rival’s pearl—
   I only meant that pearl, its wearer!
