No Absolution
By: Imrogue
She left the room
with unsteady gait.
Her heavy heart wept for him
as he perished to oblivion.
Her body bruised
and battered with guilt.
She laid motionless—
humiliated and sorrowed—
She moaned with pain
but nobody’s there to hear it—
For years she cried out in silence—
contemplated death
for her absolution
but cowardly braced
to live instead.
A life with mournful existence.

8yA nice poem, Marissa. Did he harm her emotionally and physically as well? The more love pulls us in, the longer it takes to forget.

8yMy first of your poems. I am drawn in. Would like to know you more. Yes a sad story. Often than not a hurt takes a long, long time to forget/heal if at all. Letting go is a hard thing to do but we must move on. Thanks for visiting my pages. Love this poem.
