The Wonders of Science
Head on arm, arm on bar,
eyes boilermaker bleared,
he sees a colored haze on the huge TV,
turned by fluke to a nature show,
where a fish is nailing flies
with bullets of water,
while another uses its tongue,
configured like a worm,
as fishing rod for smaller fry.
There are curses;
The channel is hastily changed —
and his eyes snap clear
to see lengthy mutants
smashing balls
through iron hoops.
