Maiden Snow

“It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it."
John Burroughs

The biting wind howls

A drunk insolent hound

The moon and stars

Nowhere to be found

The night dreary and cold

Though the fires are lit

White smoke up the chimney

By the fireplace we sit

Feet in thick woolen socks

Looking out the window

Awaiting patiently

The winter’s maiden snow

A hoary cold winter evening

Always a much-awaited blessing

It’s September but I am already waiting for the first winter snow. Where we live, chances are slim to none.

#2022WinterSnow

Growing up in the Philippines as a boy, I've always wondered how it would feel like to lie on the snow. Thanks for bringing back this memory. 👌👉❤

@Francisco Potato Thank you Brod. Lipat ka kasi sa Minnesota 😂😂😂

I’m used to Winters here in Philadelphia. It’s great when you’re inside cozy, and warm. Love the Winter Holidays Christmas and New Years. It’s a good time of year.

@Charlotte B. Williams Lived in New York for ten years. The first snow is great, the next ones not so much. 😂😂😊. Thanks for liking

Thanks for liking amigo @ Benjamin G. Sangalang

Keep wishing Brod. Miss Maiden Snow is known to show up in early spring, then hibernate then stretch and yawn and blink her eyes as early as Thanksgiving. If you wish hard enough she could surprise you this week Thursday on Fall Equinox. I met Maiden Snow in DC in 1971 Thanksgiving. And she was as virgin as she can be, there in the snow clouds for sometime then drifted down gently you could catch her with your waiting palms and blow her back to a light cool breeze passing by. That’s how sweet Miss Maiden Snow was . I don’t blame you wishing for her. Like. Thanks Brod. Your snow dream is contagious.👍
