I Think Therefore You’re Here

"Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.”
Elbert Hubbard

How dare you doubt my existence
When here I am, in your presence.
If I don’t exist in your view,
Most assuredly, neither do you!

You say I’m just a fleeting thought,
A figment that your brain forgot
But if I’m fake and never here,
Then who’s the one that’s sucking air?

I must exist, or so it seems—
Who else could haunt your waking dreams?
If I’m not real, then you’re a joke,
A shadow puff of vanished smoke!
So, let’s agree on this, my friend—
We both exist, this fight must end!

This is a tongue in cheek (hopefully humorous) take on Descartes' statement Cogito Ergo Sum. And it is in response to the poem "Essence of Thought" I recently posted.
