If a book falls in a library and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

We are brought up under the impression that each word has a meaning, and when strung together in sentences, words can describe situations, and convey emotion and meaning.

So why then is it that when you speak, I hear nothing? I feel nothing.
You speak words with less worth than air, and that disappear just as quickly.
