The Hoot Of An Owl

At that magical time
When the yellow moon
Sets,
And the pink mist
Of dawn,
Dances on the horizon,
I heard the slow hoot of
An owl,
Such a soothing sound.
I wondered if he had lost his mate,
For there was no answer.
Before the light of dawn,
I heard my heart beat,
Such a steady sound.
And when the sun came
Up,
The owl flew away,
Leaving me to
Embrace,
A new day.
