Loverheart

My Pain

A two-person poem.

You can’t see the pain behind my smile.
I know something’s wrong, talk to me.
I can’t tell you I love you.
It’s obvious, the way you act around me.
You think I don’t notice you.
I know you look over here a lot.
Can you tell I space out a lot?
It’s because of me, isn’t it?
You’re right there, and you don’t notice?
I have noticed, you just don’t care.
I tried to be perfect, all for you.
You’re perfect the way you are.
Do you even care about me at all?
If I didn’t care, I wouldn’t be here now.

It's between me and my former lab partner (who I like). Every second line (his) is what I wanted him to say... I was down for a while until we were paired up. I wrote and read it in reading. He doesn't know it's about him...
