THE BEGINNING

Holding her head up high,
She tried to stand tall.
She wanted to reach above the clouds,
And touch the heavens.
The bitter night air pushed her down.
The unlit sky began to scorn her pale skin.
The stars blinded her.
She lay there on the cold moist ground,
The Earth circled her feet.
She saw eternity flash through her eyes.
Her lips began to tremble,
Her body began to decay.
A tear began to trace the outline of her rosy cheek...
Blood poured from her slashed wrist
And flooded the universe.
It was then they were born,
A race destined to destruction....
