The Push

My two worlds too far apart
drift further away from each other
with each passing hour
with my mind still in the material world
of weights and measures, sinking into vacuity,
longing to see into the other world
that keeps pulling away from me.

Oh music for my summoning, come to me.
Shine your beacons onto my other world.
Let me see what I’ve been missing.
Let them reach into the fertile gardens
that run deep into the hinterland.
Bring thy richest harmonies and let them
push me with their sturdy arms
up to my forsaken world that left me behind.
Let the music spread its wings and carry me
past the shores and into the sweet gardens
where I can smell the roses and the jasmine
and look into the beauty that soothes my eyes
that reminds me of what my other world is like.

Give me the words to write so I can see clearer.
I will see them dancing in my dreams,
rubbing their velvet skin against my skin,
running down my spine and into my heart,
floating with my tears that
fall upon the parchment
and don’t leave until my poem is finished
and until my heart quivers when I read it again.

Thank you music with thy
sturdy and poetic arms
for pushing me into my other world
and keeping me there until
my poem was finished.
