Virtue

Beauty can be found in the world
In the glow of a sunset
In the smile of a child
In the sigh of the wind
whispering among the trees.

But beauty is fleeting
Like a firefly in the night
A momentary flash.
Here and now
Every heartbeat echoes its absence.

And yet virtue endures
A mountain against the storm
Rooted in goodness
In quiet strength
In enduring acts of love.

When you meet people who have virtue
Feel their gravity
Like the moon pulling firmly on the tide
That keeps us on land
We often feel lost and adrift.

They treat others with grace
They brave the darkness with courage
And in their presence
you begin to understand
The value of something deeper.

People come and go
Some are full of life, others are ordinary
But virtuous people
their light
Pierce the fog.

I’ve known many hands
Some warm, some cold
But the hands of virtue
Strong and firm
That lift you up

In the silence of the night
When the stars are heavy
And the world seems heavy
It is not beauty that will carry you
But the embrace of sturdy hearts.

Appreciate the virtue
That accompanies you
In the valleys of despair,
Who carries you through the storms
And keeps you warm in the cold.

For beauty, like smoke
Curls up and melts away.
But the roots of virtue
Sink deep into the earth.
Finding life even in barren places.

When the dust finally clears
And the noise of the world fades away
Is it virtue that remains strong.
Clinging to the essence of what matters
The abiding truth of our shared journey

So love the moments
But remember the lessons.
Let this beauty inspire us
But let virtue guide us
For that’s where the heart belongs.
