A heartfelt thanks to you, my dear old friends,
You helped me through those dreadful teenage days.
Together we did scoff at all the trends,
Our loyal band of misfit castaways.
I want you all to know what you have done,
And show you why it means so much to me.
Those inner demons tried but never won
Because of your steadfast sincerity.
Good attributes I never learned from men,
Like patience, and acceptance, and resolve.
You took me in your group and only then
This raging wretch that was me would evolve.
To call them angels would be so untrue,
But please, Lord, let 'em go to heaven too.
