Lowercasemmmmmm

without her I would die

she breezes through like a tiny hurricane
bringing smiles and things to stem the spread,
bursts of laughter and childlike chuckles
turn my anguish and worry on its head,
before she came I was so lost in myself
like an anchor or a lighthouse she shines out,
saving me from my noose so many times
without her I would die.

the hope bestowed when holding close
and nestling gently her sleeping frame,
turns my stone heart to organic matter
makes it beat without refrain,
where it comes from I don’t know
this love takes hold and overwhelms,
saving me from my noose so many times
without her I would die.

(2014)
