coincidences of you.

“I kinda met someone,” he said.
“I was expecting this,” she replied.
Did I know, or just think I knew?
My heart wasn’t ready to grieve,
But was it all this casual?

Was it casual when we had our first date?
When you said you missed me so kind?
When you spoke of me to friends with pride,
Was it casual or love in disguise?

When you took candid photos of me,
When you untied my shoes tenderly,
When you held my hair in care’s embrace,
When jealousy showed in your face.

When you called me your girlfriend,
Invited me to meet your mom,
When your family said I’m always welcome,
Were those moments casual or full of charm?

Did I read too much into the signs?
Was confusion only mine?
“I really loved our time,” you said,
As tears streamed down, my heart bled.

“I don’t regret what we had,” she said,
But was I just a phase?
Am I daydreaming?
Wake me up in September, please, it seems.
