Grief

"Grief comes in waves, sometimes calm and sometimes overwhelming. All a person can do is learn to swim."
~Unknown

Beneath his harsh tone,
An ache he cannot let go
Grief’s quiet poison
In lashing out, he conceals
The black emptiness he feels

Fists clenched, words like flames
He hides sorrow deep within
Lost in anger’s grip
Yet in quiet moments, tears
Betray the grief that he bears

His sorrow hides in shadows
A wound unseen, deep low-keyed
Healing comes when soft light glows
Grief finds its voice, at last freed
