Xanti - Bré

Goodbye, My Captain

Goodbye, my Captain,
Today I’ll fold the sails,
as a sign of mourning.
The clouds have sealed
the azure sky,
I’ll stay here, still,
I won’t set sail.
I’ll remember in silence
those old days,
of journeys and storms,
I’ll revisit those photos,
veiled by dust,
I’ll pray with your children,
until you’re far away,
I’ll listen for your voice,
drowned by the wind,
I’ll recall your gestures,
your honor, your steel,
and your fierce strength.
Without a doubt, I’ll cry,
but your memory in me
will be for tomorrow,
longed-for Mistral,
that will move the ships.
Goodbye, my Captain.
