To my Mom on Mother’s Day
A poem to my poem to thank her for all the wonderful life experience and lessons she has given to me.
Having worked with children I can honestly say,
you are someone I am grateful for every single day.
I meet many mothers who do not seem to care,
but my mom for me is always, always there.
I think back to my childhood and all the happy days,
teaching me life lessons and your funny little ways.
The trips, pocket money, and everything I asked for,
you gave me without hesitation, that and so much more.
You helped me learn right from wrong and to always do my best,
to talk me through the times I was really put to the test.
My heart is my best quality and I have you to thank that for,
I admire and love you, each day more and more.
Growing older I have realised money is quite hard,
but I was never without presents, gifts or birthday cards.
You made sure I got to do everything on offer and all the rest,
even though sometimes no doubt I was a bit of a pest.
Just the other day I looked back on photos from when I was so small,
I closed my eyes and thought about the memories I could recall.
Choosing the best school, places that I could do my best,
and no matter where I was, always making sure I was beautifully dressed.
Even now when I’m not sure it’s always let me ask my mom first,
you are there for me through everything, the best times and the worst.
You support everything I want and everything I do,
the best support I will ever have in life will always be from you.
I’m proud to say my mom works hard and gives everything each day,
you are committed and hard working, that will always be the way.
I look at the children I look after as they play,
and wonder how different their life would be if they had you as their mom for the day.
You have pushed me to do my best at each stage of my life,
I’ll take everything I have learnt from you through to when I am a mom and wife.
You always know what to say and everything to do,
you always told me moms are always right, my god is that so true.
I’ve always had a bed to sleep in every single night,
even in our tiny house when it sometimes got a bit tight.
We never had designer or expensive things to show,
but our house was always full of laughter and love though.
To all moms around the world, you are so special and loved. Thank you for everything you do
