Shooting Stars

“What are we but shooting stars, hoping to shine long
enough to make at least one soul believe in the magic.”
Sherry Namdeo

The crimson sun winked at them playfully
Then disappeared behind mist-covered hills
The silver moon arose e’er hastily
To all, promising a bounty of thrills!

Shooting stars flashed across the crystal sky
Daring lovers to whisper their wishes;
Puffs of clouds chase, but they can only try
In no time at all, each star vap’rizes!

Still the quick can utter a fervent pray’r
Hoping their heart’s desires, the gods will hear
Aye, foolishly thinking the world will care
About two souls in love; what they hold dear!

For love and romance; not for stars to bless;
The sun, the moon, guarantee not success!

A poem from four years ago.

Although some believe so, inanimate things, like shooting stars, cannot guarantee love’s success. Much depends on what the heart desires. A willingness to commit, to accept, to give and to compromise.
