Love Returns

“If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they’re yours; if they don’t, they never were.”
– Richard Bach

A Petrarchan Sonnet

The emptiness engulfs her weary soul
And nothing matters, she no longer cares
Oblivion welcomes, the abyss lays bare—
She longs for sleep, to make her spirit whole

She once knew love’s embrace; then lost it all
Which left her drowning in a dark despair
Romance had vanished, fading with her pray’rs
And sorrow held her firmly in its thrall

Yet in the depths where shadows start to fade
A voice emerged a beacon through the night
He reached for her,  his promise softly made
His touch dispelled the sorrow from her sight
Her wounded heart once lost, was now remade
As love returned, restoring hope’s pure light!
