Be kind, be gentle!
You’d never clean a dress with such a force,
A fireman’s hose would tear in two the cloth
Its power wrecks, and doesn’t mend, of course
Like hard words that crush, never will they soothe
But gentle hands remove the stain with care
While floods will leave destruction in the air
A child’s heart is like the softest thread
So fragile, yet it blooms in light and play
Harshness, like a hose, will bring only dread
And drive the joy and innocence away
Correct with love! and guide their tender mind
For words too rough will never be as kind
Friendships like fabric, careless blows will fray
One brutal word can tear the years apart
Much like the cloth a fireman’s hose will splay
Such bruising speech will strain the gentle heart
So, speak with grace! for bonds are hard to sew
And once they snap, they’re difficult to grow
The elderly, though strong, can still be weak
Their souls worn thin from time’s relentless wear
Fireman’s hose would leave their spirit in streaks
And words too harsh will only bring despair
Instead, be soft! and mend with tender thread
For kindness heals what cruelty leaves dead
In every soul, the stains of life may rest,
But a deluge won’t wash the grime away
A fireman’s hose may leave fine silk distressed
While gentle words can cleanse in softer ways
So speak with care! and never seek to harm,
For love’s sweet touch will always bring more charm
