A Day Closer

“If worship does not propel us into greater obedience, it has not been worship.
To stand before the Holy One of eternity is to change.”
Richard J. Foster

Another lovely morning, but just a day closer
To when we bid adieu; leave this world forever

Still, we’re thankful to be alive, breathing well
Quite hopeful there’s another universe parallel

Where we’d go, at the climax of our earthly stay;
A brand-new world of tomorrow, but never yesterday!

Such are our eager hopes, our impassioned pray’rs
As time runs short, in our relentless nightmares...

For yesterday’s full of pain and disappointments,
Sorrows and losses shattered many of life’s moments

In our past, we’ve faced betrayal and rejection
Then again, we hurt others with words and action

But when we go through portals into the new world
A beautiful city, we’re confident, we’ll behold

Where pain is no more; misery’s a thing of the past
Joy, contentment and well-being forever will last

Today, we’re at a threshold, and we have a choice
Let’s listen, for within us, there’s a little voice

Urging us, make things right; for the end’s near
Let’s pause from our busy lives, so we may hear!

Yes, it’s a lovely morning, and it’s a day closer
May we see many mornings just as beautiful forever!

A poem from six years ago. It's a recurring theme I write about. A healthy fear. more like reverence, as I await the afterlife. Where I am sure there will be no sorrow, there will be nomore pain.
