What nobody can see
the ghost on her knees
sanity all twisted up
heart torn out beneath.
All that’s been suppressed
finally put to rest.
Wrapping my fears
around un-cried tears,
serene illusion, deeply distressed.
Convictions falsely sermonized,
love; freedom and joy, vandalized.
The shoulda, woulda, coulda
that gets all mixed up to internalize
What nobody can see:
my past is the ghost I’ve become
haunting me.
