The Reach

Casual conversation and deep poetic thought are as as far apart as the sun and moon, as poets take their thoughts to a new world and invite the reader to reach it with them. Casual conversation is informative only, but is of little concern to the poets. The words to them are like lovers embracing each other.

Every word is like a caress that stimulates one lover that comes from a deep desire to please the other, and the two are mutually stimulated. Without love and desire to guide the hands, the caressing would be callous and mechanical.

Casual conversation, while informative, is like the caressing without the feeling. The information satisfies his mind but not his longing. The poet makes up a myriad of words to replace one conversational word. He tries to take the reader with him to stmulate his imagination and make him feel like he does. He makes him reach for and understand his thoughts. Thank God for poets and the way they stimulate the soul of man.
