Puppets of the Rebellious

“Hear ye, hear ye, puppets of the rebellious.
Rise up with me with thy
vacuous minds and ready spears,
thy empty dreams and convictions,
thy enfeebled spirit waiting for the moment
to be fired up and persuaded as
thy adrenalin releases into your unsavory canals,
turning them into saccharine rivers
that surge into your brain and
empower your spirit to rise up
and charge full steam ahead,

ahead to where the rebels say to go;
someplace you never heard of,
a place where the insurgency was born
in rebellion to a cause that you don’t know,

but a place that makes your adrenalin flow,
that sweet lingering taste in your heart
that you have longed for in your dreams,
that empowerment that you found within you,
a place where the rebels pointed out to you
and to follow them through thick and thin.

Rise up recruit and be counted among us
as we convert you to how we do things.
Rise up and call yourself a man,
an insurgent of the highest honor.
Even if you don’t know
what you rebelled against,
you are a supporter of a greater cause.
For this we are eternally grateful.”

Insurgency is an evil that poses as a saint
but does the work of the devil.
