Prelude to Zeus

A prelude to Zeus with cannons in the skies
highland battles fought in a heated  uprise
clashing thunder and piccolos and tympanis
trumpets screaming in dissonant harmonies

lightning shooting out from the tempest beast
clothed in black and hovering over ruffled seas
playing battle songs from their massive pipes
fortissimo pounding with iron mallets and fifes

but beautiful skyscapes that hang up on the clouds
dressing up the abomination that it so enshrouds
a song of beauty to the flaunting fires
from the proud voices of the zealous choirs

a melodic journey from the pipes of Zeus
in ebon skies and skies of phosphorous
enigmatic skies formed by capricious currents
pompous skies that pose in elegance

a song riding in the breath of the tempest
a barcarole sung with potency and zest
a calling for all seafarers to rise up and dance
to ride the storm and think of romance

o beautiful lightning o beautiful thunder
from the breath of Zeus, melodic wonder
artisan of the enigmatic skies in the night
thy sound, a love story that takes flight
a prelude that lifts us up into his heart
to feel his strength right from the start.
o beautiful skies where he lives.
