Robert Burns

The Northern Lass

Though cruel Fate should bid us part,

Her dear idea round my heart
Should tenderly entwine:

Though mountains rise, and deserts howl,
And oceans roar between;
Yet dearer than my deathless soul
I still would love my Jean.
