Children with Grapes, by Eberhard Keil

My Love Red

Red wine in my teeth,
The soft drug you gave me, roses dry.
Billboard halls to keep me out,
Melted candles all above, flourished nights.

Fire in my mouth, it burns,
You make me feral.
Garland of daisies, all blue,
You give them to my breathless body,
O, how romantic.

Red signs hugging you,
Yet I come to you in a dew.
I swam across the seas & nights
To hold you in my arms,
Tho’ as I reached the shore, violet skies,
You spilled all the water inside.

Yet here I lay,
Worms caressing my cheeks,
Smiling at you, my moon,
For the daisies turned black, how forlorn.
