Thank you Mum on my wedding day

I love and miss you

As I stand here feeling so great,
adding to memories I want to create,
one thing is missing and that’s my Mum,
I know she would want me to have fun,
but I can’t help to shed my tears,
I know she’s been watching me all these years,
guiding me through and keeping me strong,
helping us stay together as we belong,
I know she loved Ash and that means more,
to marry a man we both adore,
we can’t thank you enough for all that you’ve done,
from the moment that my life begun,
it’s so hard without you in our life,
but I know you’d be happy that i’m now his wife.

(2014)

My Mum sadly passed away two and a half years ago suddenly, not a day goes by that i don't think of her. As my wedding day gets closer, it gets harder without her. I find it easier to express my feeling when they are written down. Especially in a poem, so I know it's now traditional for the bride to stand and speak as part of the speaches but I can't sit and say nothing when I feel I need to say so so much. It's not the same as having her there to talk to and it will still be hard without her but I have wrote this poem to read out on my wedding day, to her, and my family. I just hope I can read it.
