leslie sibanda

Her return

She stands before me in all her glory,
Such voluptuousness in profile.

In the eyes of the envious,
They saw only a travesty.

In the eyes of the righteous,
They saw her majesty.

Her name drips from my lips like honey dew,
Only praises befit her stature so bold.

Her glance in my direction inflates my heart anew,
And leaves the logic of my brain so cold.

I lived a thousand years in our warm embrace,
As I welcomed home the love of my youth.

Though the days had been but a brace,
My wife, my Carol, had returned to our hearth.

And as we carried her bags to the car,
She whispered into my ear,
How much she missed my care,
And I acknowledged this love so rare.
