Choking on emotion

When the emotion comes up
It feels like heartburn
Like acid
Clenching my throat
My ears go watery
And I can’t breathe
Choking on emotion
I start to panic
It wants to go
Both directions
Horrible taste
On my tongue
I try to swallow it
All that bitter acid
Eating me inside
