Boiling Fire

I feel the pain,
No, I feel the sensation
Of boiling fire build behind my eyes
I built up a dam to keep the waters at bay
But I’m having trouble patching up the holes
I closed up the flood gates
But the boiling fires still leak through
Rivers form down the plains
And over the mountains I call cheeks
The rivers over flow and flood the valleys
And I taste salted boiling fire
The fires die out
The landscape has changed
The rivers burned the grasses on the plains
Streaks paint the mountains a deep red-pink
And I still feel the tightness in my veins
As my lungs take in a gasp at the ruined landscape
The grasses will grow back
And the mountains will be cleaned by the rain
But this once beautiful landscape will remain forever changed by
Boiling fire
